"Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.
Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!"

Here are some new shots of Mason in the family room. He is such a HAM!! He smiled whenever the camera light came on :) And check out all his teeth! There is a new one on the bottom just to the right of those that came in already. I think that was the culprit of the runny nose back at the beginning of June.
Calvin and I planted tomato plants for the first time and here is our first crop! YAY! We were so excited because we didn't KILL them! :) There are already a bunch more and the big ones are now turning red too! I sure do LOVE home grown tomatoes!
So in the petting zoo section (which they are renovating) is a new bug exhibit...and boy is it GROSS!! They had hissing cochroaches, giant spiders, thousands and thousands of BUGS!! Outside that lovely little exhibit is the face boards that you can take pictures in. Here's one of Mason in the spider :) Isn't he cute!!??
We had a great time yesterday at Torrey Pines State Beach. Just a little gathering of friends: The Mellish Family, Mike, Michele and her two kids Meaghan and William, William's friend Kevin (and later Kevin's dad), and Diana Craft. Surprisingly, there are NO photos of the day. Daddy didn't bring his camera! Mommy had hers, but left it in the RV and Daddy didn't feel like getting it :( Too bad, because the weather and the ocean were beautiful! Mike drove his RV out early in the morning and secured us a nice little spot in the corner. Unfortunately, we were not able to "tailgate" there, per Ranger Rick, (e.g. set up any chairs, tables, or grill outside) so we staked out a spot on the beach not too far from home base (the RV). It was so nice to have the RV there because we had a place to change clothes, use the restroom, and retreat to at the end of the day. Calvin and I bought a canopy at Wal-Mart Friday night and it was one of the BEST investments! We set it up with the 8 chairs, two tables, the pack-n-play, and a mat and the grill and jogger stroller just outside. It was perfect! We had plenty of shade, the breeze was blowing all day (making it even a little chilly at times), and a perfect little retreat from the sun. We hiked Torrey Pines, dipped only our feet in the water (it was real cold), walked along the beach, and, of course, ate. We had grilled chicken, burgers, hotdogs and hotlinks, PB&J bars, watermelon, clementines, yummy jello salad, chips & dip, green salad, macaroni salad, and potato salad, corn on the cob, and plenty of drinks. It really was such a sweet day. And as the tide came back in, we packed up (so not to be submerged) and spent a little time just chillin' in the RV. After, we decided to go back to Michele's condo to order pizza for dinner, and then went home around 830pm. We didn't stay up for fireworks as the munchkin was pretty tired from the day. It was so much fun, we're already talking about doing it again! Wish you could join us! Happy Fourth of July and God Bless America!
“The family has always been the cornerstone of American society. Our families nurture, preserve, and pass on to each succeeding generation the values we share and cherish, values that are the foundation of our freedoms.” ~Ronald W. Reagan~
Alyson and I were very blessed with the addition of Mason to the family back in June 2008. We have now expanded the household by "two more feet" with the arrival of our new little boy, Jackson Trevor.
I hope you continue to enjoy this new journey with us! Sincerely, Calvin, Alyson; Mason & Jackson
