Sweet Potatoes! YUM!

Mason tried sweet potatoes for the first time today! Judging by the look on his face and the gagging we dealt with while eating, I don't think he liked them as much as the pears ... but mommy loves them so I'm sure he will learn to love 'em too!

Daddy was Right!

10/18/2008

So today Mason proved to Mommy that Daddy was right after all! While Calvin was at the Man Power breakfast, Mason and I were at home. I put Mason in his crib, wound up his animal mobile like always, and got ready to go take a shower. But I made a pit stop at the computer to look at email and then went back to check on Mason ... lo and behold he had ROLLED OVER! You can see in the picture that he still had his arm up underneath him! He hasn't quite figured out how he can roll back, but this is a good start! One of these days I'll catch him on film!

Mommy's Missing Mason ...

So, Calvin told me that Mason rolled over two days ago (10/15/08) by himself. I have yet to see it, but as much as I don't want to believe it, I believe it could have happened. Mason has been getting himself up on his side and pulling that back leg up. But I have not seen him propel himself over. He is getting to be such a big boy!

I just feel sad because I want to be the one to see him do his "firsts". He is going to be doing so many of them and since four days out of the week I only see him at night, there is a good chance I'll miss a lot. I know it is something special for daddy to share with him and I am happy for that. But Mommy wants to be included sometimes too.

And today (10/17/08), Mason has a little cough and congestion and I just want to love up on him and make him feel better. Only five more hours of work and then I can go home. I just love him!

October 13, 2008

On Saturday, we went to the Eggery, Etc. for breakfast and walked along the boardwalk. It was a very beautiful day. The swells on the ocean were huge, I think because of a hurricane in the Pacific. There were a handful of strong, brave souls out wind surfing. It was so neat to watch! Here are a couple snap shots of our morning. As you can see, Mason has also found his tongue and likes to play with it!

In addition to trying cereal, he tried pears on Saturday. It seems like he likes them. This coming weekend, we'll try sweet potatoes. Daddy is not a fan of them, but Mommy loves them ... at least with brown sugar and cinnamon! So we'll see if Mason's palate likes them.

And today, Mason had his four month check-up with Dr. Upton. He is now 26 inches long and weighs 14lbs 9oz. Calvin told the doctor that he would stop putting Miracle-Gro into Mason's bottle ... judging by the initial look on his face, I think Dr. Upton is still getting used to Calvin's humor. Just wait for when Mason can talk! Mason also got another shot today ... and he was such a trooper ... barely even cried! He's getting to be such a big boy!

Mason is oh so close to rolling over too. Last night, he had kicked that leg up and he was teetering on his side, but didn't go over. I'm sure it's only a matter of time... I just have to say what a blessing Mason is. Each and every day is special. It is amazing being parents and we wouldn't trade it for anything! He is such a joy and the apple of our eye!

Snap Shots of Cereal Time

To Roll or Not To Roll ... That is the Question!

Mason has been doing this a lot lately and I know it is only a matter of time before he learns how to kick that leg up and over and he'll be rolling. It's amazing how much he is growing. Calvin claims he's rolled from his stomach to his back already, but I have yet to see it. :) Just like Mason says "Dad" only in his presence ... it may be another mystery!

We also love to watch Mason as he talks to his animals. For not having any words, he sure does have a lot to say!

Mason's first go at cereal!

So today we decided to try cereal for the first time. Yum, yum, yummy in my tum, tum, tummy! Mason was four months old yesterday and is eating more all the time. As you will see, I don't think he was so sure about the stuff. Actually, I am not even sure much of it made it into his tummy. Between the tongue and the drool, we sure made a mess out of things. It was a fun memory nonetheless and we are excited to introduce new things to our son.
