JUST HANGING OUT...

Time for Nite-Nite

After a long day of travel, Mason is all tuckered out! Sweet Dreams, little one.

RUDY'S BARBEQUE

Meeting Grammy!

Here we are in the airport meeting Grammy Dolly! Now we are off to Rudy's for some good ol' Texas Barbeque! YUM!

Mason's First Airplane Ride

Well, I have yet to figure out how to post comments with my slide show. Never seems to work. But Mason's first plane ride to Texas was a success. We went to visit Grammy Dolly for Christmas December 18th-23rd and Mason did so good on the plane. He slept most of the way and otherwise was an all-around good traveler! I think we were fortunate...the flight attendant told us to come back when he's two! HA! I'm not that stupid...or am I?? :) Happy Trails!

OFF WE GO TO TEXAS!

Just a Note...

So, Matthew (my youngest brother) had been dying for Chinese food. So we took Matthew and met some friends (Mike, Mark, and Cindy) for Chinese Buffet. It was yummy and fun to hangout! See the slide show below...

Matthew FINALLY gets Chinese Food!

Mason Gets NIKE's!

Here Mason is getting his Christmas present from the Plum Family! The Nike shoes are awesome, but right now, just a little too big! Don't worry Mason, you'll grow into them!

NO MORE CARSEAT!

Thankfully, Uncle Ron and Aunt Sharon gave us the Floppy Seat for Mason's Baby Shower Gift. Here we are using it for the first time at the Commissary. Let me tell you what a blessing it is!

1. First, Mommy doesn't have to worry about all those nasty germs.
2. Second, it provides much needed padding in the cart for Mason.
3. Third, FREEDOM! No more running into people or objects (it's so hard to see around the carseat on the cart!)

And over the past couple weeks, we have been able to use it in a number of restaurants while on our vacation! The Floppy Seat now has a permanent home in the back of the car so we never forget it at home!

Let's Go For a Ride!

So before Christmas, Mommy decided to get out and do a little exercise. This is Mason's first attempt in the jogging stroller and I must say it was a success! He loved riding and looking around at all the things outside. All the more reason for Mommy to get out and exercise!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! It's 11:29pm Christmas Eve and I actually get to see the minutes passby on Amanda's (my twin) Christmas Countdown Clock on her blog. Didn't think I'd be up to see that! We just got back from visiting Dolly in Texas. But both my men (the little one and the big one) are not feeling well and in bed sleeping (hopefully the little one will sleep through the night - mommy's tired).

So Mommy is up trying to clean up the house for our guests tomorrow (my two brothers and the Wilkinsons) who are joining us to celebrate. I just finished putting ornaments on the tree (yes momma, I did it for Mason) - though there are only about a third of what we have in our box. Our tree is too full to put too many inside and there are too many presents under the tree to try and get to the back. But it's done nonetheless...just in time for me to take it down :) HA!

We have lots of pictures to post from our trip to Texas, from Christmas tomorrow (I'm sure), Christmas Eve with Grandma and Grandpa Aguilar, and many others. I'll be doing that for the next few days! For now, I bid you good night. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
God Bless.

Love to all,
Calvin, Alyson, and Mason Mellish

It's That Time of Year

Tis' the season for lots of things to do. It's almost 5pm on Monday and the end of my weekend. Today was such a busy day...no more taking it easy with Mason on Mondays. We were up as early as we are on a typical work day and have been going non-stop.

1. Stopped by Mommy's work to pick up some things left over the weekend

2. Then to the Commissary for grocery shopping

3. Then raced to Mason's 6 month check-up where he now weighs 17.1 lbs (50th percentile) and is 27 inches long (75th percentile). And the doc said his head circumfrence is in the 75th percentile as well! Guess he'll have a lot of brains like mommy :) He also got another shot, but didn't even cry.

4. Then back home for a quick lunch (peas, apples, and rice cereal for Mason and a cucumber sandwich for Mommy)

5. Then off to Fashion Valley (had to take advantage of a weekday that wouldn't be too crazy during this holiday season) where we finished off our Christmas gift shopping and picked up some make-up and pantyhose for Mommy for the RCHSD Christmas Party on Friday.

6. Finally back home at 4pm...Mommy decided to take a short nap with Mason after feeding him a small snack (he fell asleep before finishing his meal)....and thank goodness, he is still sleeping.

So there is still lots to do and Mommy is all tuckered out. I was super ambitious today and got most of it accomplished. But we still have to do some wrapping of presents, finish the Christmas cards, hang lights on the tree, and decorate the Christmas tree. A couple of these may have to be saved for tomorrow and Wednesday night. The hustle and bustle is never-ending, but worth it in the long run. :)

More blog stuff to come...

Mason's First Visit with Santa

So Santa said, "Don't let him see me, Don't let the baby see me". And of course I said, "Oh, he'll be fine." And to that Santa replied, "Oh, that's what they all say." But to appease Santa, I handed Mason to him with his back towards Santa so that Mason would not see him. We got a few good shots and then Santa turned Mason around so that he could see him. For such a jolly fellow, it seems he gets the short end of the stick with all the kids crying. So it must have made his day when Mason smiled and got excited when he saw Santa! And Mommy didn't say "I told you so." :)

Mason's First Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Or otherwise said, Happy Turkey Day! But whether you had turkey or ham or tacos, the Mellish Family is thinking of you and wishing you had a wonderful day! We have been thinking a lot and it is so easy to lose the meaning of Thanksgiving (and Christmas for that matter). We just wanted to first and foremost thank GOD for blessing our lives in such a monumental way. It is only because of Him that we have so much. We are also very grateful for our FAMILY, near and far, who live life with us day in and day out, for making memories and sticking together. We are grateful for our FRIENDS, those who shared about Jesus with us, those who continue to help us stay faithful each and everyday, those who enrich our lives, those who make us think more, love more, laugh more. We are grateful for our HEALTH, as fragile as it may be, our family has been healthy. We are grateful for our JOBS, for the means they provide for us to live, for the security we have as it is inevitable that they could be gone in an instant. We are grateful for our FREEDOM, for the red, white, and blue, for the soldiers fighting for it. We are so grateful and know that we don't deserve any of it.

This year for Thanksgiving the Mellish-Kantorowski-Aguilar clan met together at the clubhouse of one of dad's rental properties. Lani put her talent to good use and put together the most beautiful fall place settings and table decorations. Believe it or not, sometimes this makes or breaks the event and truly made everyone feel special for the effort and time she put into making it so lovely. Calvin, the chef in the family, of course made the turkey and boy, did that bird turn out beautiful! Sharon and AL did most the side dishes - all homemade: twice baked sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, corn casserole, cranberry sauce, and more. Cal's mom, Rachel, brought veggies to snack on before the meal and they went fast since we were all hungry and just waiting to dig in! Katie and Steve brought drinks and of course, we could not do without wine! And to top it all off, Joe made the best pumpkin and apple pies from scratch! We all had such a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope yours was just as great!

MASON LAUGHS!

Calvin has been trying to get Mason to laugh for some time now without success. Last night, for the first time, MASON LAUGHED! We thought he was scared at first, but after he saw all of us smiling, he giggled and giggled and, of course, made us laugh! Calvin bought these two magnets that when you throw them together they make a weird zipping sound...and Mason just LOVED them! So enjoy the video and we hope you find yourself chuckling! :)

The Fancy Nancy Tea Party

A first for Mason...he went to a tea party and was surrounded by Estrogen! By the end of the day, he just wanted to the TV remote and a beer! :) HA!

My friend, Vicky, runs a business called "Miss Tabitha's Tea Party's". She decided to put on a special event for the girls at church and their friends. What a well done production! She had hats, boas, shoes, jewelry, and stations for make-up, hair, and nails. All this followed by a tiny lesson in manners and etiquette during tea time. The girls had so much fun! Here are a few pictures from the event!
